My three best friends. Andre, Kovyn and Don. They are all POOL lovers.

” How about another game of pool, dude? ” and Don set up the balls in place.

” Alright, since we still got some time before we meet up Mandy. ” Kovyn positions himself to hit the white ball.

” But it better be a quick one! She is always early! ” Andre exclaims while trying to adjust himself to feel more comfortable with the seat.

Andre, Kovyn and Don are totally crazy over the game of pool. Every spare minute and every spare second they got, they will try to give a shot in pool. By doing this, they are always late in meeting with Mandy. Thinking that it is alright and that Mandy doesn’t mind waiting for them, since she always displays a smile,  they take it for granted. But never do they realise that actually Mandy did not enjoying waiting for them at all. It kind of frustrates her every time they are late because of pool. It makes her thinks that playing pool is so much important than her.

“Ring.. ring…” Andre’s phone rings.

“Oh my god! It’s Mandy! What should i say? What should i say?” Andre jumps out of his chair and shakes his phone.

“Eh, eh, eh. Just hang her!!! anyway we’ll be done soon.”  while Kovym quickly shoot the last black ball in.

Andre pushes the “reject call” button and all three of them quickly keep the sticks and balls into the balls’ tray. They hurry themselves to the counter to settle the bill and run off down the stairs hoping that it won’t take long.

Mandy stands there patiently, waiting for them. From far, she can see 3 figures running towards the library but they seems to be running from the pool junction. This time, the three musketeers have really got onto Mandy’s nerve. She ignores the presence that they are heading towards her, and walks off to the traffic lights.

The three guys didnt know what to do, but to continue chasing her. Mandy’s frustration have already stops her from talking or even to look at them, and whatever excuses that came out from the three guys mouth, Mandy knows that it’s all lies, lies to make her forgives them. And she won’t fall for that same old tricks, no more.

Mandy grabs her both ears, and starts closing her eye. Thinking that it is already safe to cross the road, she runs cross the road.

“BAM!.. . ” Mandy falls right in the middle of the road. Fresh blood slowly flows out from Mandy. She stretches out her hand towards the three guys, and within a few second she drops flat on the ground, losing her conscious.

The three guys stone for a moment on the spot, for the incident was all so sudden.  They did not expect it coming, everything wasn’t suppose to be like this. The three guys, immediately knock themselves out of their thinking and run towards Mandy to check on her.

Andre digs out his mobile and dials “995″ with his cold and sweaty fingers. Kovyn slowly hugs Mandy up from the pool of fresh blood, Don knees down on the road and head facing downwards at Mandy, and tears start flowing.
” We shouldn’t let Mandy waits so long for us. It is all because of this stupid addict we have for pool, or not this won’t happen at all! ” Don cried out.

Ambulance came within some time, but sadly the doctors couldn’t do anything to save Mandy’s life. And so she is announce death. No one can accept the fact that she actually have left earth, not even the three best friends of Mandy who all saw what had happened. And from that day onwards, they vow to themselves that they will never get addict to any sort of games ever again.

The obsession of the three guys, had some how cause their loved once’ death. Just because of one foolish mistake that they had made, they lost a friend, a really wonderful friend that can tolerate their nonsense act. But now they lost it all, just because of addiction.

This is a good try at writing a story following the conventions of greek tragedy but I don’t think it quite fits. There is no protagonist who causes his or her own downfall and no realization of their fatal flaw, etc. But a good try, nonetheless.
